Check Out 10th Reunion Pics

If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you check out Larry Sampas' pictures from the 10th reunion. There's a link to his site on the right sidebar, but you can also get there from here. He's got an embarrassment of riches - several hundred pictures - including quite a few from our party in the former Goodhue cafeteria. I especially liked a series that shows the vultures (including me) descending on the gyros pizzas that showed up at one point that night. Thanks a lot for making the pictures available, Larry! On a related note, I went to homecoming (1st time in Nfld in a few years) and noticed that Bill's Pizza and the rest of that block had recently been demolished. What's up with that?

"Since Carleton, I have surprised myself by..."

Greetings, folks. By now everyone has received a few mailings about reunion. Hopefully a lot of you are making plans to get to Carleton next June. Fantastic!

So that we can use your own witty words to get even more people to attend, we do want you to fill out the "class questionnaire" that was included by November 1st. You can even do it HERE, online. Have at it.

1991 & Music

I just got my 15th Reunion stuff in the mail yesterday and man, am I excited! Looking forward to staying in Davis, since I never got to live there.

In case anyone's interested, Steve Malloy and I host a blog together (also through Blogspot) called 2Songs. Originally, the idea was that each day, a few of us would post 2 songs we were listening to, thereby sharing new music. Naturally, at this point it's more like 2 songs a month...

On the same Class of 1991 and music theme, John Haesemeyer has a website devoted to his singer/songwriter talents. The site includes free MP3s. Most of the music is new, but a handful of the songs (Big Company, 41 Cents and an Airplane, Back to College) date back to Carleton and could have been heard in the Cave; Goodbye, Blue Moon; and various dorm rooms and stairwells around campus. In fact, if you dig deep (see Songs Gone Wild), you'll find a live version of Stupid Lonely Heart Song (lluminated Windows) recorded (somewhere) at Carleton in 1989. John will probably be embarassed that I'm posting about his site, but hey, I hear he's off in Australia on vacation. Leave the country and you're just ASKING for trouble...

DIY Posting

Here's the lowdown on POSTING to this page: What you're reading right now is a "Post." Currently Chris, myself, and now Mr. Eichner are official posters. All it takes is me (the blog creator) sending an email invite to you, and a little willingness on your part to follow the few Blogger steps to get yourself registered to post. To any classmates reading this, especially those on the reunion committee, let me know if you're interested & I'll get you set up.

The other, somewhat less involved and visible, way to get something on the site: add a COMMENT to a post. Anyone on the web can do this, no login is necessary. After each posting, you should see to the right a little line that says something like "0 comments". You click it, then type to your heart's content. To sign it, and get it on the site, you may find it simplest to choose "Other" for your identity, once you're in the pop-up. There's no need to log in via Blogger to leave a comment to a posting, and with "Anonymous" you'd need to put your name IN the comment if you want anyone to know it was you who posted the comment. Also, if you do choose "Other", you don't need to post a URL if you don't have a web page.

Cool? Be sure and write me if you have more questions. You may notice that I switched the page into a new template-this isn't (yet) the redesign I mentioned recently to committee members (oh, if only I could design so fast and be happy with the work!). I needed to use a newer ready-made Blogger template to get the comments to work right. This newer template is nice though, no? So blooooooo.

The Committee Has Met

Greetings, Class of 1991! Several members of your Reunion Planning Committee got together this past weekend (see asterisks on list on right of this page) to start putting together plans for a great 15th reunion.

We're pleased to say that the official daytime planning sessions, as well as a few late nights at the Contented Cow, on Evans Hill and in the 4th Watson lounge, brought forth some terrific ideas and plenty of enthusiasm for the event. That said, we want your suggestions and requests. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see or do at reunion, any way that we can make the weekend easier for you (and your family, as applies!) to attend and enjoy, or if there is anyone in particular you want to see at reunion, drop us a note.

Watch this space for more info, photos, and gossip, as it comes in!

Join The Committee!

Hey, our 15-year reunion is less than a year away. How shall we tempt you back to Minnesota for it?

Let's try a random MN news item/factlet: while Minnesota may indeed have more than 10,000 lakes, but that number evidently comes short of winning the title for Most Lakes: Texas wins.
