Honor your classmates

During the Saturday morning Alumni Convocation at Reunion, the Alumni Association will present the Distinguished Achievement, Exceptional Service, and In the Spirit of Carleton Awards. Nominations for these awards come from Carleton faculty and staff, professional colleagues and you -- Carleton alumni! Here's a brief explanation of each of the awards:

Distinguished Achievement: These awards honor outstanding achievement by Carleton alumni in a particular field or fields, which may be in either professional or community service endeavors.

Exceptional Service: These awards are given to alumni, friends, faculty members, administrators, or others who have contributed substantially to the well-being of Carleton by furthering its purposes and programs. This award is given for volunteer service other than that while employed by the College. Retired employees and former trustees and council members are eligible to receive the award.

In the Spirit of Carleton: This award is presented to an alum from one of the most recent 15 classes who has made a significant contribution to civic or professional organizations, who demonstrates the attributes of Carleton's liberal arts education.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have some of our 1991 classmates recognized at Reunion? For more information about the criteria, and for biographies of past recipients, visit

1991 & Music

I just got my 15th Reunion stuff in the mail yesterday and man, am I excited! Looking forward to staying in Davis, since I never got to live there.

In case anyone's interested, Steve Malloy and I host a blog together (also through Blogspot) called 2Songs. Originally, the idea was that each day, a few of us would post 2 songs we were listening to, thereby sharing new music. Naturally, at this point it's more like 2 songs a month...

On the same Class of 1991 and music theme, John Haesemeyer has a website devoted to his singer/songwriter talents. The site includes free MP3s. Most of the music is new, but a handful of the songs (Big Company, 41 Cents and an Airplane, Back to College) date back to Carleton and could have been heard in the Cave; Goodbye, Blue Moon; and various dorm rooms and stairwells around campus. In fact, if you dig deep (see Songs Gone Wild), you'll find a live version of Stupid Lonely Heart Song (lluminated Windows) recorded (somewhere) at Carleton in 1989. John will probably be embarassed that I'm posting about his site, but hey, I hear he's off in Australia on vacation. Leave the country and you're just ASKING for trouble...

We Want Your Help

Greetings to The Class of 1991!!

We want your help!! The reunion committee has come up with (what we think) are many great ideas for reuion, but we want to hear from anyone in the class of '91. What do you want to see at reunion? What would rock your world for the weekend of June15-18, 2006? We want your input, whether you are a reunion committee member, or a hopeful attendee, or, especially, if you have never attended a reunion. Reunion is the classes' to create, make it your own. Let us know what we can do to create a weekend that you will remember, one that will bring you back for our 15th and 20th reunions! There are people who are willing to work on providing whatever you dream up. Let any of us on the committee know by emailing us, calling us, or posting it on the blog. We want to hear from everyone! Don't be shy, the committee isn't!
