Make your plans now!!

Greetings to the class of 1991! The reunion planning committee has indeed met. Despite our best efforts to goof off this weekend, we came up with some really great ideas for our reunion. The committee is remarkably diverse, so there are all sorts of activities being planned that should suit just about everyone's taste. If you have a family, and you plan to bring them, there are going to be several activities every day that will certainly bring out kids of all ages. If you don't have kids, rest assured that there will be plenty to do--from Rotblatt and Ultimate to hanging out on Davis beach enjoying the sunshine, reminiscing with friends old and new, and sipping on a cold beverage of your choice. The committee hopes to plan a reunion that has something for everyone, but one that does not separate the parents from the non-parents.

So start planning now! We want to see every member of the class there! We promise you will have a memorable weekend, filled with all those things that you love about Carleton. And you won't have to leave all the fun to go to the computer shack to write that paper that's due on Monday morning! Can't wait to see you all there!

DIY Posting

Here's the lowdown on POSTING to this page: What you're reading right now is a "Post." Currently Chris, myself, and now Mr. Eichner are official posters. All it takes is me (the blog creator) sending an email invite to you, and a little willingness on your part to follow the few Blogger steps to get yourself registered to post. To any classmates reading this, especially those on the reunion committee, let me know if you're interested & I'll get you set up.

The other, somewhat less involved and visible, way to get something on the site: add a COMMENT to a post. Anyone on the web can do this, no login is necessary. After each posting, you should see to the right a little line that says something like "0 comments". You click it, then type to your heart's content. To sign it, and get it on the site, you may find it simplest to choose "Other" for your identity, once you're in the pop-up. There's no need to log in via Blogger to leave a comment to a posting, and with "Anonymous" you'd need to put your name IN the comment if you want anyone to know it was you who posted the comment. Also, if you do choose "Other", you don't need to post a URL if you don't have a web page.

Cool? Be sure and write me if you have more questions. You may notice that I switched the page into a new template-this isn't (yet) the redesign I mentioned recently to committee members (oh, if only I could design so fast and be happy with the work!). I needed to use a newer ready-made Blogger template to get the comments to work right. This newer template is nice though, no? So blooooooo.

Songs from 4th Nourse

There are certain songs or bands that always take me back to Carleton. Here are a few of mine that I associate with our first year. I'm sure you've got some similar songs of your own - add yours in the Comments or drop me a line. We'll put together a Reunion playlist from the submissions.

In no particular order, my songs and associations:
  • U2 I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
  • U2 Where The Streets Have No Name
  • U2 Pride (In The Name of Love)
  • U2 New Year's Day
(Thanks, Jason, for making me a committed U2 fan.)

  • R.E.M. Fall on Me
  • R.E.M. I Am Superman
(Scott singing in Spanish in the Evans dishroom....)

  • Depeche Mode People Are People
  • Depeche Mode Blasphemous Rumours
  • The Cure Just Like Heaven

(One of these always seemed to be coming from Chris & Jon's room.)

  • Sting Fortress Around Your Heart
(Dave helping me with Calc homework.)

  • O.M.D. If You Leave
(Chris & Terri and a certain R.A.)

  • Peter Gabriel In Your Eyes
  • Yaz Only You
  • New Order Bizarre Love Triangle
  • Depeche Mode Never Let Me Down Again
  • Level 42 Something About You
  • UB40 Red Red Wine

(Really, could you get away from these? Somehow they're very Musser to me....)

The Committee Has Met

Greetings, Class of 1991! Several members of your Reunion Planning Committee got together this past weekend (see asterisks on list on right of this page) to start putting together plans for a great 15th reunion.

We're pleased to say that the official daytime planning sessions, as well as a few late nights at the Contented Cow, on Evans Hill and in the 4th Watson lounge, brought forth some terrific ideas and plenty of enthusiasm for the event. That said, we want your suggestions and requests. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see or do at reunion, any way that we can make the weekend easier for you (and your family, as applies!) to attend and enjoy, or if there is anyone in particular you want to see at reunion, drop us a note.

Watch this space for more info, photos, and gossip, as it comes in!
